My approach…
I work in a therapeutic model called Narrative Therapy…
What is Narrative Therapy?
In narrative therapy, people's values serve as platforms for action in addressing life's challenges. Rather than spotlighting problems, the focus is on elevating individuals' hopes and dreams to center stage.
Why is it different than traditional talk therapy?
Rather than focusing solely on problems and diagnoses like in conventional therapy, I strive to empower individuals, couples, and families to take an active role in their healing journey. I view my clients as whole and capable individuals who are not defined by their challenges. Through a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic process, we work together to explore strengths, cultivate knowledge, and reauthor your narrative on your terms. My goal is to support you in creating meaningful change and lasting well-being.
Why does it matter?
In my practice, I adhere to the fundamental belief of narrative therapy that separates the individual from the problem itself. This mantra, "The person is not the problem. The problem is the problem," underscores the essence of my approach. By shifting the focus away from seeing individuals as inherently flawed, we place the issue within a larger societal, institutional, or political framework. This paradigm shift not only upholds individuals' dignity and hope but also provides them with the necessary space to reassess their values, rediscover their life's path, and make meaningful choices that align with their principles.
